General Information

The Sheriff and his staff are required to follow strict federal guidelines when performing necessary procedures for fingerprinting. During the application process, you will be asked to schedule an appointment. Please note that you will be asked to pay now to reserve your appointment.

If you are applying for a Concealed Weapon Permit you do NOT need to schedule a fingerprint appointment in addition to scheduling an appointment to submit your paperwork. 
The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office fingerprints applicants with the correct information on your valid NC ID.  Please allow 15 minutes to complete your appointment.  If you are not prepared with the correct paperwork, or you are late for your appointment, you will need to reschedule.

 

  • Fingerprinting costs are:
    • Rutherford County Residents - $0.00.
    • Out-of-County Residents - $10.00.
    • An online service fee of $4.00 is required to process payment. 
  • Appointments for fingerprinting are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00pm-2:45pm.

Fingerprinting Requirements: must meet ALL requirements

If you are obtaining fingerprints that require electronic submission to the SBI, please make sure you receive the Electronic Submission form from the agency requesting that you be fingerprinted. If you do not have these forms we cannot fingerprint you.

The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office fingerprints applicants with the correct information on your valid NC ID.  Please allow 15 minutes to complete your appointment. If you are not prepared with the correct paperwork or late for your appointment, you will need to reschedule.

In addition to the fingerprint fee, the system will charge a per transaction fee for the service of applying and paying for your fingerprints online. The service fee is not collected by the Sheriff.  This fee is paid to the company that provides this order, payment and processing system to the public. You do have the option of applying and paying via cash in person at the Sheriff’s office. By doing so, you will not be charged the service fee.
